About us

Over the last ten years, a social science research centre dedicated to science and innovation has been formed within the Université Paris-Est. This centre is the product of work conducted over the years at the LATTS (particularly with the Excellence Network PRIME), the creation of IFRIS in 2007 (funded by the MESR and by a PHARE project of the CNRS), the creation of a dedicated research unit at INRA (UR 1326 SenS) in 2010, and the creation of the digital platform CorTexT, also in 2010. This trend was supported by funding from highly selective programmes, namely the LabEx SITES (rated A+ in the first round of selection), the Domaine d’Intérêt Majeur de la Région Ile-de-France (DIM, Area of Major Interest in the Ile-de-France Region) IS2-IT in 2011, and several major EU projects, including the RISIS project (Research, Infrastructure for Research, Innovation in Society) in 2014.

The creation of LISIS is a new key stage, bringing together these initiatives in order to constitute one of the main research centres in the field at international level. In 2014, LISIS’s project was rated very positively by both AERES and the relevant scientific committees at INRA and UPEM. These two institutions, joined by ESIEE Paris, have therefore decided to support this development with the creation of a joint research unit combining the different research skills within a single laboratory. The École des Ponts ParisTech has joined this initiative, and the CNRS has also decided to create LISIS as a FRE.
