Yves Lichtenberger is a sociologist whose areas of research cover the evolution of work organizations, professional relations, professional training methods, and professional qualifications. He has particularly focused on the implementation of skills-based management approaches at multiple large industrial and service companies.
From 1994 to 2012, he worked as a professor at the Université Marne-la-Vallée, of which he was president from 2002 to 2007. He was moreover founding president of the Université Paris-Est (PRES-COMUE), co-founder of the Master’s Degree in Skills and Organizational Management (Master Management des compétences et organisations) (1998-2002), and director of the “Emploi égalité des chances” (equal opportunity employment) investing in the future programme of the CGI (2010-2014), at the Centre d’Études et de Recherches sur les Qualifications (CEREQ) (1989-1994), and director of the French Ministry of Research’s “Technologie emploi travail” programme (1984-1994).
